Turn Your New Year's Resolution Into Action - Achieve Your Goals

"New year, New me". It's time to start fresh with resolutions and figure out ways to improve now. What will you want to learn this year? What dreams do you do you want to make reality?

While there's easy to set goals, it’s hard to stick to your commitments. "Research shows that 80% of people give up on their New Year’s resolution by the 2nd week of February!" wrote by business and life coach Tony Robbins in an Instagram post. However, 10% said they never break their New Year’s resolutions. How come?

Stop struggling to keep resolutions! This simple approach helps you really reach your resolutions and goals this year. Behavioral psychologist tells us that you must first develop the habit that will guide you to the right actions.
There are three things we must do to create a new habit:
  • Pick a small action. "Get more exercise" is not small. "Become a solution architecture" is not small. This is a big reason why New Year's resolutions don't work. For example, instead of "Become a solution architecture" choose "Study architecture course in the morning daily". (Morning is the best time to study), similar is "Walk 20 minutes before dinner every day"...
  • Start new action to a previous habit. The existing habit "Study technology" now becomes the "core" for the new habit: "Study 10 minutes more daily." Your new "stimulus-response" is Study Architecture Course Daily followed by "Add 10 minutes."
  • Make the new action EASY to do from the first week. Practice the new habit from the existing stimulus from 3 to 7 times before it will "stick" on its own.
